British Blind Sport (BBS) is partnering with Swim England to host a special BBS Junior Swim Festival. The free event will take place on Sunday 10th November 2024 from 1pm to 5pm at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre, Blossomfield Rd, Solihull B91 1NB. The event provides an excellent opportunity for blind and partially sighted young people aged 3 to 17 from all over the UK to participate in fun and competitive activities. Attendees will also be able to meet VI athletes on the para-swimming pathway, who will share their experiences and advice on what it takes to become a competitive swimmer. Multi-medal winning Paralympic swimmer and Channel swimmer, Melanie Barratt will join the BBS Junior Swim Festival to discuss her journey with attendees following her successful attempt at becoming the first blind woman to swim the English Channel in August.

Previously known as the BBS National Youth Swimming Gala, the event has been running successfully for over 20 years. This year's event will include lessons to improve water confidence and competitive activities for experienced swimmers. The day will feature races over 25/50 and 100 meters and fun races such as BBS's famed Jangle's ball race. Swim England will also host a masterclass for those looking to improve their diving and swimming skills.

Vicky Cook, Participation Officer at British Blind Sport, said: "The BBS Junior Swim Festival is an important event for our young members. It enables participants of all abilities to develop their skills, compete against and socialise with others who share similar life experiences and ultimately become better competitors. The event is also a great way for children learning to swim to make new friends and experience swimming in a safe and welcoming environment."
