On Friday 30th August, we hosted a snowsport Have a Go Day in partnership with Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK)at the Tamworth Snowdome.

We were joined by 14 participants who had the exciting opportunity to try skiing and snowboarding on the indoor slopes of the snowdome, led by experienced adaptive snowsport instructors from DSUK.

The day was a great success with participants learning new snowsport techniques, building confidence and meeting new people.

Participant feedback from the day:

"It has been almost 25 years since I last skied, and I had some useful sight back then. The support offered last Friday gave me the confidence to bring back the skills I had, and I felt totally confident with their [instructors] support."

"I enjoyed the challenge of doing something out of my comfort zone, and the instructors and staff from British Blind Sport were all very friendly and helpful. These instructors gave us a full and detailed description of the snowboards which I found very useful as I had never seen a snowboard in my life, so I really appreciated being able to physically hold it and see how big it was before using it."

"Nice to meet other people who have difficulty with their vision, did something I'd never done before and met nice, friendly people."

"He thoroughly enjoyed trying skiing and would now be more confident to join another sessions."

We were delighted to hear following the session that three of the participants have already signed up for more sessions at the Snowdome.

There are a number of locations across the UK that Disability Snowsport UK host adaptive snowsport lessons. These include:
