BBS & The Wave Project partnering on special surf taster day

British Blind Sport is delighted to announce their upcoming surfing 'Have a Go' Day in partnership with The Wave Project to give blind and partially sighted participants the exciting opportunity to try surfing in Scarborough.
The special event will take place on Sunday 8th September between 10am and 4pm at Scarborough South Bay.
Qualified instructors from The Wave Project, who are International Surf Association-accredited Adaptive Surfing coaches, will be delivering the surfing sessions on the day.
Participants will learn about their surfboard and practise some basic skills needed for surfing before hitting the waves with their newly learnt techniques.
Vicky Cook, British Blind Sport Participation Officer, said ahead of the event: "We're excited for our upcoming special edition surf 'Have a Go' Day. It's going to be a fantastic opportunity for blind and partially sighted participants to experience surfing. The day is going to be all about having fun, building confidence, and learning new skills. We have a brilliant team of instructors on board from The Wave Project who are experts in adaptive surfing so everyone can feel safe and supported."
BBS is calling for potential participants to complete an expression of interest form on their website by Monday 29th July at: www.britishblindsport.org.uk/events/2024/09/surf-have-a-go-day
Following the expression of interest period, BBS will reach out to those who have registered with the opportunity to book and make a non-refundable payment of £15. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
