These races have shown me the world and I've learned to take it all in as I'm running. There's nothing like that 'finish line' feeling and the London finish line looks amazing!

A keen sportswoman, Karen has always been a runner. She said: "I played sports as a child and just kept it going. I didn't participate in regular races until the year 2000. In the January of 2000, I wanted to start the new millennium off with a big goal, one of which was to run a marathon."

"The most challenging part of training is saying 'no'. At times training made me feel selfish. I had to decline invitations because I planned a long run. It's 3 months of hard discipline and training comes first. Post marathon I'll be fun again. No regrets as to 'if I only' did more."

We asked Karen, what are you most looking forward to on marathon day? She said: "These races have shown me the world and I've learned to take it all in as I'm running. There's nothing like that 'finish line' feeling and the London finish line looks amazing!"

She added: "I have run ten marathons. London will be my sixth of the 6 World Majors. So, I am also looking forward to receiving my Six Star medal."

Karen chose to run for British Blind Sport (BBS) after several visually impaired runners and their guides inspired her at the 2021 New York City Marathon. She said: "I am grateful to BBS for choosing me to support the charity. Running along side visually impaired runners at the New York City Marathon was truly amazing."
