British Blind Sport offers a wide range of resource to help upskill the workforce who are looking to make their sport and physical activity offering more inclusive for blind and partially sighted people.
As well as our online resources, we have a range of tailored face-to-face workshops to help enhance the knowledge and confidence around VI-inclusive sport and physical activity coaches, professionals and volunteers.
Our 'VI Awareness in Sport and Physical Activity Workshop' educates participants about what it is like living with sight loss, physical and psychological barriers that exist for those living with sight loss, as well as providing advice on how to make physical alterations to venues to make them more accessible.
Our workshops are ideal for:
- Leisure providers
- Schools and university staff and/or students
- Sports clubs
If you think your organisations would benefit from one of our VI Awareness in Sport and Physical Activity workshops, please get in touch with our team by emailing info@britishblindsport.org.uk for more details.
Our Workforce Officer, Frankie Rohan, with a group of Places Leisure employees who have taken part in a VI Awareness in Sport and Physical Activity Workshop.
I had the privilege of attending the ground-breaking See Sport Differently event at West Bromwich Leisure Centre, and it completely transformed the way I perceive sports and leisure. This event focused on enhancing the inclusivity of leisure centres, making them more accessible and welcoming for visually impaired and blind individuals, so that we can provide equal opportunities for everyone and create a world where sport knows no boundaries. The session was delivered by Frankie Rohan from British Blind Sport who reminded us that with the right resources and inclusive environments, nothing can stop anyone from pursuing their passion and achieving greatness
