Athletics clubs (coaching, officials, marketing roles)
We are looking for young people aged 16-25 to join our team as coaching assistants and competition officials. For event and marketing support we can accept candidates from age of 14 and above. We are providing England Athletics level 1 coaching assistant course or officiating course with opportunity to progress on level 2 and above. For events and marketing we have also training available with certificate of completion. We expect at least one year commitment to the club. Ideally the coaching assistants would be a regular addition to our coaching team on any of the weekly junior athletics sessions but we are flexible to accommodate fortnightly attendance also and work schedules around studies and holidays as required. Officials are usually required around 5 Saturdays or Sundays per year and for events and marketing the schedules vary.
There is no prior experience required since a full training is provided. Although, some sport background would be helpful. The interest in learning and the commitment to work as a part of our team is the most important after all.
Interested candidates will be invited to come along to one of the sessions so that they can get an idea what the role entitles. This will be followed by an informal interview and opportunity to ask questions before commitment.
The scheme is an excellent way of boosting young volunteers' CV, learning new skills and improving their employability for the future. There is ongoing support and mentoring in place from one of our experienced club coaches, officials and management team. As the project is funded by the Game Changes programme and Spirit of London 2012 we have an excellent rewards and recognition scheme in place too. And of course you will make many new friends too!
