Involvement
England and Wales Blind Golf is a charity open to men and women of all ages who want to play golf. The organisation's primary purpose is to provide visually impaired individuals the opportunity to train and compete in the game of golf. This could be as a beginner or a seasoned golfer.
If you want to find a golf centre near you, England Golf provides Get Into Golf activities at centres nationwide. Alternatively, use the BBS Activity Finder to find an inclusive golf club local to you.
Many competitions are available, specifically for golfers with a visual impairment.
Many clubs will organise their competitions. Once you are a member, you will learn more about the competitions near you.
There is also a pathway for players to compete nationally through England and Wales Blind Golf.
For more information on competitive opportunities or to learn more about the sport, please visit www.ewblindgolf.co.uk or get in touch with them via email at: enquiries@ewblindgolf.co.uk.
Sight classifications are essential to ensure fair and equal competition. Success at competitions should be defined by an athlete's skill and ability, not their impairment. The sight classifications should give all athletes the confidence that they are competing against others equally.
Useful Links
Adaptations and Equipment
A visually impaired golfer often works with a guide to help position themselves to take the shot. Guides advise on the distance to the hole and position the player for direction, but it is the player that chooses the club they wish to use and makes the swing.
