British Blind Sport is happy to announce the growth of their Board of Trustees with two new members; an HR Advisor and Finance Director.
Lauren Myers will be joining the board as the HR Advisor and will bring years of human resources experience and knowledge to the organisation. Lauren currently works as the HR Business Partner for British Cycling. There, she is responsible for the design and delivery of British Cycling’s People Strategy, and is Business Partner to a number of individuals, teams and directorates, including to the chief executive and Performance Director, as well as the Great Britain Cycling Team. Previously a secondary school teacher, a passion for sharing knowledge and personal development led to the transition from education to HR. It is this passion that led her to join the Board at British Blind Sport.
Sajid Hussain, currently working with British Judo, will join the charity as the Finance Director on the Board of Trustees. Sajid is currently the Head of Finance and Operations at British Judo Association. Prior to joining British Judo, Sajid had previously been working within the banking sector in London for over 10 years. Sajid is also the Treasurer for Muslim Women’s Sports Foundation which is an independent charity with the aim of increasing the involvement of Muslim women and girls in sport.
Sallie Barker, Chairperson of the Board, said, “I am delighted to welcome Sajid and Lauren to the BBS Board. They both bring a wealth of experience and knowledge which will complement the skills of the existing Board members and enable us to continue on the path of raising our standards of good governance. I look forward to working with them.”
Alaina MacGregor, Chief Executive Officer, said “We are thrilled to have two fantastic new additions to our Board of Trustees. Both have years of experience in their respective fields and will provide invaluable knowledge and expertise to the organisation. We are also extremely lucky that both Lauren and Sajid work for National Governing Bodies of sport as they bring with them a strong understanding of the sector.”
