Richard has been a lawyer for 34 years specialising in Employment and Sports Law. He is passionate about all sports, but Rugby is the one that he excelled at, representing both his country and the Barbarians at international level. He followed up his playing career by joining the RFU with the accolade of being the youngest Council member where he represented Cambridge University. During his time at the RFU he chaired disciplinary panels and acted as a citing officer for World Rugby. Richard founded the Rugby Union Players' Association and the Elite Cricket coaches Association to protect and support the rights of players and coaches in the professional game.

Richard is a freelance sports reporter for the BBC and can be heard most weekends commentating on live rugby for CWR and 5 Live Sports Extra and covers other key sporting events that take place in the Midlands. Richard is the Chairman of his village Cricket club where up until recently he was regularly keeping wicket in the Saturday team as they steered their way up through the Cotswold league divisions. He enjoys the countryside with his wife, 3 dogs and small flock of chickens.
