We are delighted to announce our upcoming special event 'BBS at 50 Festival of Sport' on Sunday 19th October at the Tudor Grange Leisure Centre in Solihull between 10am and 3pm.

This celebratory event will incorporate three zones for attendees to enjoy and participate in throughout the day:

  1. An Activation Zone where all participants can explore and take part in a wide range of inclusive sport and physical activity. These activities will be announced in the lead up to the event.
  2. A Partner Zone which will provide partners with the opportunity to showcase their work, connect with others in the field, and demonstrate how their sport is inclusive for blind and partially sighted people to participate in.
  3. A BBS Celebration Zone which will highlight the 50-year history and achievements of the organisation.

Alaina MacGregor, CEO of BBS, said: "As we celebrate 50 years of empowering blind and partially sighted people through sport and physical activity, we are thrilled to be hosting the 'BBS at 50 Festival of Sport' event. This festival will incorporate three elements – activation, partnership, and celebration – and have something for everyone to enjoy. We're incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far, and we are excited for what's to come over the next 50 years."

Shamira Naidu-Young, BBS Participation Officer, who is organising the event, said: "BBS has been a leading voice in blind and partially sighted sport for 50 years and we're excited to bring this special celebratory event to Birmingham this October. Attendees of all ages will be able to try new sports, meet partners from across the sporting sector, and celebrate our milestone year with us."
