Michael Gordon

Meet Michael, a 52-year-old Engineer from Aberdeen in Scotland.

Michael started running in 2014. Although not part of an affiliated running club, Michael's running journey started simply by enjoying sociable jogs with his local Jog Scotland group.

We asked Michael, what inspired you to take on the London Marathon, he said: "I am a regular at World Marathon Major races and London is the closest (home) major for me."

Michael added: "I was inspired to run for British Blind Sport because it's a great charity that supports people with sight loss to participate in sport and physical activity. I have met several people over the years that would love to be active in sport, but find options limited."

The 2025 TCS London Marathon will be Michael's fourth London marathon. Six days before London, Micheal will run the Boston Marathon, and later this year, Micheal will be running his fifth Chicago and New York marathons.

Even the most experienced runners face setbacks or struggle with motivation, Micheal said: "I have been struggling to find my usual motivation this training cycle, but I am focused on raising funds, so that drives me forward."

There's no bigger prize than the finisher's medal itself. We asked Micheal, what are you most looking forward to on marathon day, he said: "Getting my hands on the 45th London Marathon medal! And, that sense of achievement, knowing that all of my hard work will go toward to helping others."

Michael added: "My advice to anyone thinking of running the London Marathon for BBS is 'go for it'! A fantastic charity. I have found everyone at BBS very friendly and supportive."
