What is Equestrian?

Equestrian such as horse riding is available to individuals who are blind or partially sighted through the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA). RDA offers a wide range of different activities and equestrian disciplines for you to get involved in. These range from riding and carriage driving to showjumping, vaulting, dressage and endurance. There are regional and national competitions to take part in as well as holidays and educational programmes.

How can I get involved in Equestrian?

Equestrian activities through the RDA are fully inclusive to individuals with a Visual Impairment. Coaches and trainers only need to make minor considerations in order to allow a blind or partially sighted individual to take part in Equestrian activities. For example, being aware of environmental factors in and around the stables or venue and providing clear, and detailed prompts to the rider in order to orientate themselves within the arena.
