London VI Sport and Physical Activity Forum
The inaugural meeting of the London VI Sport and Physical Activity Forum was held a couple of weeks ago. Jointly hosted by British Blind Sport and London Sport, the forum brought together organisations from across the sport and visual impairment sector.
The aim of the forum was to merge the sport and VI sector to better understand the sport and physical activity needs for Londoners living with sight loss.
Knowledge, experience and examples of good practice were shared amongst the group which consisted of 20 different organisations, representing local Sight Support Services, VI Sports Clubs, VI Charities, Disability Sport Organisations, National Governing Bodies and the County Sport Partnership – London Sport.
Discussions took place about future projects and how to work collaboratively to enhance sport and physical activity with many ideas being posed.
British Blind Sport will now work with London Sport to identify a plan of action to ensure a strategic approach to VI sport development and get more visually impaired Londonders, more active, more often!
