BBS, Metro Blind Sport and Goalball UK team up to deliver an inclusive sports day for blind and partially sighted people in London.

British Blind Sport (BBS) is partnering with Metro Blind Sport and Goalball UK to host a multi-sport Have a Go Day. The free event will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022, from 10am to 3pm at Gunnersbury Park Sport Complex, Popes Lane, London, W3 8LQ. The event is open to blind and partially sighted people of all ages, as well as their friends and families. The day will include activities such as football, goalball, athletics and more. Coaches from local clubs will attend the event, allowing participants to explore sports available in their community.

BBS Have a Go Days are multi-sport taster events that have been held successfully across the country since 2016, encouraging blind and partially sighted people of all abilities to become more active.

Philippa Bass, Participation Officer at British Blind Sport said, "We are incredibly excited to be hosting a Have a Go Day alongside Metro Blind Sport and Goalball UK to deliver and promote inclusive sport at this fantastic facility in Gunnersbury Park. Sport has the power to change people's lives, and we believe that this event can provide opportunities to improve the social, physical and emotional health of blind and partially sighted people in and around London."

BBS is also running First Steps Family Days alongside our Have a Go Days. First Steps is a national project, funded by Children in Need, and helps young people with sight loss get more active by improving their motor skills and building confidence in their abilities. First Steps Family Days allow young people with sight loss from aged 2-11yrs to try out locally available sports and meet other young people with sight loss. Young people taking part will be welcomed into an introductory session and then join in the wider activities available at each Have a Go Day. For more information on Family Days, please email firststeps@britishblindsport.org.uk or call 01926 424247.
