BBS Events


BBS are delighted to announce the return of our national VI events in 2017. Following hot on the heels of Team Paralympic GB’s successful Paralympics in Rio, British Blind Sport is delivering a series of “Have a Go Days” in 2017, offering anyone with a visual impairment the opportunity to try new activities. Have a Go Days are multi-sport taster events providing blind and partially sighted people opportunities to try a wide range of sports. The events will take place at locations nationwide throughout 2017.

Free activities including football, athletics, golf, gymnastics, rock climbing, cricket, goalball, cycling and much more will be available. Events have been confirmed for locations across the UK:

  • Milton Keynes
  • Manchester
  • Castleford, Leeds
  • Newcastle

Have a Go Day Manchester

British Blind Sport are delighted to add another multi-sport event to our calendar this summer. Working in partnership with the RNIB, Lancashire Lions, Our Lady’s High School and Greater Manchester Sport, join us for a day of sporting excellence including:  Golf, Football, Rock Climbing, Weightlifting, Cycling, Goalball, Judo, Rowing, Archery (potential), Cricket and Tennis. Suitable for anyone 5+, children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the day. The event is free of charge and open to anyone who is blind or partially sighted, providing an opportunity to try a wide range of sports. Siblings and family members are also welcome to attend.

Previous British Blind Sport Events

Have a Go Day Northampton

These events have now closed. The Have a Go Day Programme kicked off sucessfully in Northampton on 11th March 2017.

Join us at one of our other locations for a fun filled day of Cricket, Goalball, Athletics, Tennis, Football and much more! No experience necessary, we look forward to welcoming beginners as well as more experienced sports enthusiasts. The day is open to adults and juniors, aged 5 and up including siblings. This will be another great sports day so come along, meet new people and chat to the BBS staff and coaches who will more than happy to help you.

Have a Go Day Leicester

We are delighted to announce the launch of British Blind Sport’s Leicester Have a Go Day!  Working in partnership with, Leicestershire & Rutland Sport, Vista Leicester, Action for Blind People and Ellesmere College and kindly supported by Peter Harrison Foundation. The event will take place at Ellesmere College on Saturday 13th May from 10:00 – 16:30pm. Come along and take part in an entirely free day of activities including football, running, rock climbing, judo, golf, boccia, cycling and gymnastics! Our friendly staff and coaches will be on hand throughout the day to answer any questions. Ages 5 and up. Siblings welcome.

We’re also very excited to announce that Rio double Paralympic medallist Libby Clegg and ex Paralympic athlete Dan Powell will be our special guests on the day! Dan will be delivering the running sessions in the morning and you will have an opportunity to get to know them with a Q&A session at lunchtime.

Have a Go Day Birmingham

British Blind Sport and Birmingham Vision are delighted to work together to deliver a sports taster and Have a go Day at this years Birmingham Inclusive Sports Festival 2017! Join us for a  multisports day including a range of activities such as: Football, Cricket, Goalball, Gymnastics, Judo, and more (subject to change). Open to anyone with a visual impairment over the age of 18.
