British Blind Sport have joined forces with England Athletics and Run Together to relaunch the #FindAGuide campaign helping people living with a visual impairment to find a guide… and run!
The #FindAGuide database helps people with sight loss find a running companion to support them on their journey to get active this summer.
Whilst running is a great way to get fit, enjoy the outdoors and meet new people, the relaunch of the #FindAGuide campaign, which coincides with #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, aims to promote the unseen benefits to running, which include reduced stress, increased self-esteem and reduced risk of depression and anxiety. Running as a group can also help reduce the feeling of isolation and create an increased sense of community.
If you are 18 or older you can simply use your postcode to search the Find A Guide database for licensed guide runners near you. All of the friendly guide runners have attended a Sight Loss Awareness and Guide Running workshop, are DBS checked, passionate about running and are waiting to help support visually impaired people to run.
