12 o’clock today marked the official launch of the 2018 British Blind Sport Christmas Appeal.
Last year, the BBS Christmas Appeal exceeded all targets and raised £1,599.85 to support the BBS Youth Fund! This year, British Blind Sport have been selected to take part in the Big Give Challenge, the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign, doubling donations to the Christmas Appeal. With the support of the Big Give Champions; United Fresh, Pure Offices and The Hospital Saturday Fund, this year, British Blind Sport are aiming to raise £5000, to support the First Steps project.
First Steps introduces children with sight loss aged 3-11 years old to physical activity so they can develop the skills and confidence they need to lead active, healthy and independent lives.
British Blind Sport provide children with sight loss with a free Jingle Ball and fun activity pack that they use at home to build up their motor skills and confidence. They also receive 1-1 support from a child development specialist who helps them take their first steps into activities at local clubs where they can make friends and be part of a community.
Every donation takes a step closer to the ambitious target of £2500 which will then be doubled the BBS Champions to raise £5000 for children with sight loss. Each donation carries TWICE the IMPACT and helps British Blind Sport to support MORE children with sight loss.
Only donations that are made via the Big Give website, between 12pm today and 12pm on the 4th December will be doubled by the BBS Big Give Champions. Donations made after the deadline of 12pm on the 4th December, or made via another channel will not be doubled.
