Covid-19 Status Update
As the restrictions around the global pandemic begin to vary and different regions of the UK are under different levels of lockdown, we wanted to update you on the position of British Blind Sport and our current operating status.
Whilst the UK government still advise working from home if it is possible, our staff remain working remotely. We have put into place procedures and risk assessments for when we are able to return to the office safely. In the meantime, our services remain the same as ever.
We are deeply disappointed that we have had to cancel so many events, particularly during, what is traditionally, a very busy period of the year for Have A Go Days and BBS sport section events.
At this moment, we do not have any rescheduled dates for any cancelled events and will not reschedule until we can be certain that members and participants will be safe in coming together in large groups and that we remain in support of government advice for social distancing measures.
The health of our members, participants, volunteers, staff and trustees is of paramount importance.
We are doing all we can to work with key stakeholders in the sporting sector to ensure that people with visual impairments are being considered as the regulations for returning to physical activity are made and that they are not left behind whilst others can get back to the activities they love.
We have some specific guidance regarding lesiure centres and communal facilities, which we have worked alongside RNIB, Metro Blind Sport and Visionary to create. Please click here to read our sport and leisure operators guidance.
We have also collated the return to play guidance for the NGBs with whom we work closely, to ensure that people with a visual impairment are able to return to those activities safely. Please click here to read the various NGB guidance documents.
In the meantime, we hope our members and service users are all taking advantage of our online library of free and audio-led at home workouts to ensure they stay fit and healthy. Physical activity is also a great boost for positive mental health and combats feelings of social isolation.
