The Have a Go Day events, which have been run successfully across the country since 2016, have supported over 900 people with sight loss to get active, with those attending enjoying a range of inclusive sport and physical activities delivered by professional coaches. In addition to trying new sports and meeting new people, following the event, British Blind Sport supports attendees to continue to play sport regularly at local clubs and sporting facilities, taking their next steps towards leading an active lifestyle.

The Charity is proud to work in partnership with Ellesmere College and Leicestershire and Rutland Sport to deliver a fun filled day of activity enabling children and adults, from across the Leicestershire area, to have a go at a wide range of inclusive sports. This event is free of charge to attend for British Blind Sport members, and £5 to non-members (BBS membership is free for juniors under the age of 18). The event is open to anyone living with a visual impairment who is interested in trying their hand at inclusive sport. At the event, there will be an opportunity to try archery, cycling, guide running and tennis, with further activities still to be confirmed.

Registration is required prior to the event and is available on the British Blind Sport website at https://bit.ly/HAGD-LEICESTER

Found it amazing. The things I thought I couldn’t do, I actually could. Especially the cycling, for the first time in 11 years I felt the wind on my face as we moved around the track. I really enjoyed the day and look forward to the next.’ - Have a Go Day Participant.

I liked trying sports that were especially for visually impaired people.’ – Have a Go Day Participant.
