British Blind Sport is delighted to be hosting a VI Sport Taster Afternoon as part of the Lancashire Lions 10th Anniversary Celebration event. The afternoon is free to attend and will take place on Saturday 28th August 2021, from 1pm to 5pm at Wright Robinson College in Manchester. The event is open to blind and partially sighted people of all ages and abilities, as well as their families, and will include a variety of inclusive sports such as Goalball, Cricket, and Baseball.
The sports sessions will be led by inclusive coaches in collaboration with local activity providers and will offer a relaxed and supportive environment for blind and partially sighted people in Manchester to try a variety of adapted sports and discover new sporting opportunities in the area. Lancashire Lions will also host a friendly goalball competition in the morning and are considering hosting a cricket tournament in the afternoon as part of the celebrations.
Lancashire Lions, British Blind Sport and delivery partners will adhere to updated Government Guidance regarding COVID to ensure the safety of all attendees.
Alex Pitts, National Partnerships Manager said, “British Blind Sport is proud to support this event and would like to congratulate the Lancashire Lions on 10 years of VI Cricket! Sport and physical activity can improve our health and strengthen communities by bringing people together. The event aims to encourage and inspire more blind and partially sighted people to get involved in sports. We're looking forward to welcoming participants of all skill levels and to offer taster sessions to introduce people to VI sports in a fun and casual setting."
