Alex has worked as the Participation Officer for British Blind Sport for two years, excelling in her aim of tackling inactivity amongst people with sight loss by ensuring that accessible clubs and activities are available to anyone who wishes to be active. Alex has built key partnerships with various sight loss associations and external partners across the UK, as well as developing self-sustaining forums in key locations, ensuring that visually impaired people have the opportunity to be physically active.

Now ready for the next challenge Alex will be taking on the role of National Partnerships Manager at BBS, building and maintaining strategic relationships with other NDSOs, NGBs and sight loss sector organisations across the UK.  In her new role, Alex will ensure that British Blind Sport continues to develop relationships across the sight loss community and the sport sector; making accessibility and inclusivity a priority.

British Blind Sport Chief Executive Officer Alaina MacGregor said, “We’re all really excited to see Alex take on the role of National Partnerships Manager.  I’ve seen Alex excel in her role as Participation Officer over the last two years and go above and beyond the expectations of her job role.  She is more than capable of taking on this new challenge and I look forward to her building on existing partnerships as well as seeing the new partnerships she creates, enabling a positive difference to the lives of people with sight loss.”

Alex Pitts, National Partnerships Manager, said “I’m looking forward to getting to grips with the role and making my own mark.  There is so much potential for growth in the accessibility of sport and physical activity, no one should feel that they can’t join in or that there are no opportunities for them.  My role as National Partnerships Manager will allow me to develop relationships at a strategic level to directly influence the quality and quantity of inclusive opportunities available to people with a visual impairment.  I’m really excited to get started!”
