British Blind Sport is pleased to be partnering with Move More to deliver an inclusive sports event at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. The event was originally planned for spring 2020 but was postponed due to covid-19. The rescheduled event is free to anyone with a disability and will take place over two days. Monday 13th September is for those aged 16 and up, and Tuesday 14th September is for those aged 4 to 16. Both days will run from 9:30am-2:30pm and will be held at the English Institute of Sport, Coleridge Road, Sheffield, S9 5DA.
The event, supported by Sheffield City Council, will enable participants to explore sports opportunities available in their community. This means that participants are introduced to activities that they can continue to enjoy after the event, creating a pathway for tackling inactivity.
While the “Move More Celebrates Inclusive Sports” event hosts sports for people of all abilities, British Blind Sport will organise activities for participants who are blind and partially sighted. British Blind Sport will provide football, goalball, tennis, and a variety of other accessible activities. With four years of experience delivering Have a Go Days and helping over 1000 visually impaired people get to active, BBS are excited to be working alongside Move More to assist with their inclusive sports celebration.
British Blind Sport National Partnerships Manager, Alex Pitts, said, “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Move More and Sheffield City Council to help deliver a truly inclusive event. While our events are usually for blind and partially sighted people, it is wonderful to be a part of this event that is open to people of all abilities. We hope that people will take advantage of this opportunity to learn about new and exciting activities that they can participate in and enjoy in the future.”
British Blind Sport events are always extremely popular, and by collaborating with Move More to facilitate an event for all disabilities, this inclusive event is expected to be the best attended yet! As such, it is required that participants register their place before the event. The form is available at: https://britishblindsport.wufoo.com/forms/mtj2zql1hpc923/
