British Blind Sport National Youth Swimming Gala
British Blind Sport run an annual National Youth Swimming Gala. The 2019 event took place on Saturday 31st March and was a huge success. Children from all across the country took part in a fun filled afternoon of swimming. The date and location have not yet been confirmed for the 2020 BBS National Youth Swimming Gala, watch this space for updates.
This event has been held successfully for over 20 years and is the only VI specific youth swimming competition in the UK, always attracting participants from across the country. Open to all abilities, whether you are a beginner or competitive swimmer come and have a go!
Lessons will also be on offer for those children aged 5-17, who may not feel confident enough to take part in the swimming gala but would like to learn the basic principles of how to swim.
Free entry for all blind and partially sighted children aged between 5 to 17 years old.
Events (this information is subject to change)
Swimming events for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle relay and medley relay 25m, 50m and 100m. Gala restricted to swimmers aged between 8 and 17 years old and can confidently swim 25m.
Lessons also available for beginners aged between 5-17 years old.
