British Blind Sport (BBS) is the National Disability Sport Organisation that represents blind and partially sighted people in sport. Our vision is to empower all people living with sight loss to get active and enjoy sport, whether it is taking their first steps or helping to secure talent pathways to encourage individuals to fulfil their potential. Working across both the sight loss and sports sector, we work with strategic partner organisations to fulfil our aim and, by doing so, we positively impact the lives of hundreds of people every year. There has never been a more exciting time to work with BBS as we continue to increase our impact and reputation within the sight loss and sporting sectors.
We are looking for a Communications Intern to support the planning and delivery of social media content and contribute to content creation including social media, blogs, press releases and internal communications activity. It is a fantastic opportunity for someone with some previous experience of using social media in a personal and/or professional setting.
The role is part of the Get Set Progress internships programme for blind and partially sighted people, funded by Thomas Pocklington Trust, to secure that first rung on the career ladder or who are returning to work following a career break. We are therefore only looking for blind and partially sighted applicants for this role. The successful applicant will have excellent communications skills, a good standard of verbal and written English, a high attention to detail and an understanding of how to make social media content accessible to blind and partially sighted people.
To apply, please complete the BBS job application form, and email it across to firstname.lastname@example.org. For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jenny, our Communications Officer on email@example.com or phone 01926 424247.
*This post has a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the successful applicant be a blind or partially sighted person in line with The Equality Act 2010.
Can you make a visible difference?
British Blind Sport enables blind and partially sighted people to have the same opportunities as sighted people to access and enjoy sport and recreational activities.
As a relatively small, Warwickshire based charity, we rely on volunteers to help us with our work.
There are numerous roles available, but we are willing to be flexible and match something to your skills wherever possible.
For more information on how to get involved, please call 01926 424247 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
