Each year, since 2014, England Athletics have been conducting a series of workshops across England to train guide runners with the vital skills to confidently support people living with a visual impairment to run. The Sight Loss Awareness and Guide Running Workshops allow keen guide runners to learn the skills to become a sighted guide for visually impaired runners. Along with learning about different sight conditions and the principles of guiding, all graduates of the course have the choice to be DBS checked and join the Find a Guide database. The Find a Guide database allows visually impaired people who are looking to get active to search for a competent and trusted local guide.
British Blind Sport and proud to partner with England Athletics and Run Together on this project which helps to pair visually impaired people in England with sighted guides to support them along their fitness journey.
